What is TSA Lock

What is TSA Lock

A TSA lock is a special security lock designed for air travel, approved by the Transportation Security Administration of the United States. You can quickly identify it by the well known red diamond logo printed on the lock housing. Unlike ordinary luggage locks, it features two independent unlocking systems. Travelers open it with their personal combination code for daily use, while authorized customs inspectors use exclusive TSA master keys to unlock the lock during baggage inspections.
When flying to the US, Canada and some other regions, checked luggage may be randomly opened for security checks. If you use a regular lock, officers have no choice but to cut or pry it open, which damages your lock and luggage. With a TSA certified lock, customs can inspect your belongings without any destruction and re secure the lock afterward.
Please keep realistic expectations: a TSA lock prevents lock damage from customs inspections. It is not high security anti theft hardware and cannot fully stop professional theft. It is a must have accessory for cross border travelers.
